YOGA THERAPY

What is Yoga Therapy?
As there are many styles of yoga, there are many answers to this question.  Michael Lee, founder of Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (www.pryt.com), defines Yoga Therapy as; “a practice or method that produces a change from one state of being to another state of being that is enhancing.”  This is his shortest, simplest way of describing the overall power of Yoga Therapy without being exclusive to any type or style.  Phoenix Rising is unique because it is more psychologically therapeutic while still being body-oriented and it empowers individuals to recognize their own abilities to create positive life change.  Other Yoga Therapies are more physically therapeutic and prescriptive in nature.

Body-centered therapy for the body, mind, and spirit.
Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a form of bodywork based on the reality that the mind and the body are not separate and that the connection between them can tell us a lot about what's happening in our lives.  As we struggle to keep up with the hectic pace of life, we may find ourselves looking for simplicity, inner peace, deeper meaning and for a way to heal our bodies, spirits and our lives.  Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy is a way to connect to that deeper part of ourselves that knows how to support and guide us.

What People Are Saying

“It was an amazing experience.  I have not received work (e.g., massage, counseling, etc.) that has made such an impact on my deeper understanding of my true being.  I was surprised to hear how the physical experience was completely linked to the emotional.  It was a life-changing experience.  Kris is fabulous at her work and has such amazing energy.  I trusted her completely and she allowed me space and time to discover myself.  Thank you!”  --R.S., Speech Language Pathologist

I wasn’t sure what to expect but Kris put me right at ease.  No, much more than that.  She invited me into a space where I was totally comfortable and able to open up and explore some things in a way that I hadn’t experienced before.” –E.W., Teacher and Student

Really excellent touch!  Kris is already a fantastic body worker and strong in her yoga experience and I felt she also did a great job of mirroring back what I was saying as opposed to reacting to it or trying to interpret.  Her questions were perceptive and in alignment with what were happening.  She focused on the physical and allowed me to elaborate on the emotional issues in my time.  It felt very safe.” —L.G., Travel Agent

“An opening, an invitation into my emotional world to bring it alive and into my whole person.  Kris does a fabulous job at holding space and at encouraging depth in the psyche during poses. I am very grateful for the opportunity to work with Kris and believe that she has a beautiful gift for this work.”  --C.C., Massage Therapist

“There are not sufficient words for it.  Absolutely amazing and wonderful experience.” –C.T., General Contractor

“Creative, open, nurturing environment in which to be honest without being judged.” –K.O., Retail Sales/Artist

“Extremely relaxing!  Kris has an amazing touch and soothing voice, great eye contact.”  --L.M., Therapist

“I think I could deepen into the work with multiple sessions.  I see where my body may have more to tell me about how I live my life.”  --H.P., Psychotherapist

“It was the first time I have been able to emotionally let go in any sort of therapy session.  Kris has a very calming voice and touch.  It helped bring my overall tension level down.  I feel comfortable sharing things with Kris, she doesn’t judge.  A very neutral place to express myself.”  --S.M., Massage Therapist/Waitress
